A Special Preview in Germany

cts_preview_073107.jpg

By Rob

As I mentioned here, our latest trip to Germany (and the famed Nuerburgring) was back in June. After we did our own testing and development, we did something unique and interesting that car enthusiasts all over the world will be able to see. We conducted a special preview of the 2008 CTS for some of the world’s top auto journalists, giving them a chance to do what we do – drive the car on the Autobahn, Nuerburgring and other German roads.

In fact, we set up two days of driving and testing arranged very much like how we developed the car ourselves, and much like what we talk about on this blog, actually.

Check the web and your local bookstore, newsstand or mailbox. The reports from some of the world’s top car magazines and websites will start appearing any day now. Of course, this being an early preview of the car at the Nuerburgring, we were very limited in the number of journalists we could bring. So this was a very exclusive opportunity. We’ll be enabling test drives all over the world once full production begins in the coming weeks. I’ll post a few more details of this special drive in Germany in the next few days.

More from the Blogosphere

By Rob

Our plant in Lansing, MI is making the final preparations for launch. An exciting time for us, not leaving much time for blogging, regrettably.

You might recall we did some Q&A blogging here a few months ago. If anyone has more questions or suggestions for us, let's make this a forum for that. Shoot back a reply to this topic and we'll endeavor to answer those. (To make this most interesting for regulars, have a look back at some of the previous forums, so we can hopefully avoid the same questions we previously covered! )

In the meantime, while your pondering some questions to fire at us, a few totally unrelated highlights from the web:

  • Here is an excellent Nuerburgring web site that we neglected to mention in our previous posts about that incredible place.

  • Not that you asked, but this is one of our favorite expert auto bloggers.

  • As long as we're linking, we better mention the boss (or as others know him, Bob Lutz.) He's done some video blogs of late that have received a lot of notice.

News from the Blogosphere

By Rob

Production is getting ready to start for our '08 CTS. This is a bit like getting ready to have a baby, minus the extreme physical pain! As such, our posts here have been less frequent. And we're sorry about that. Soon -- as in any day now -- we'll be in a slightly more "normal" state. And there will be many more stories to share. Hang in there with us! More to come shortly. In the meantime, we've seen some interesting stuff online that somewhat relates to the world of vehicle testing:

  • A little note on the pricing of the upcoming CTS.

  • Another blogger having a run thru our infotainment system.

  • A local-boy-makes-good story on one of our team members -- the man mostly responsible for Cadillac interior design.

Show Off

By Liz

One of the folks our team had the chance to show off the new CTS to a very prominent car lover, and someone I'm sure you'll recognize.

(HINT: He's on TV late at night!)

A rare injection of actual comedy to our site!

Ring Video

You may recall our series of posts about the famed Nuerburgring and the testing we do there.

Recently we had a chance to take some video of the car performing at the 'Ring.

Here's a look.

Techno-ride

By Charles

We had the chance to show off some of the electronic features on the CTS that were discussed in a recent blog post.

Now, here's a look at how a top tech blogger summarizes the car's infotainment, with a lot of info and tons of photos.
