Production is getting ready to start for our '08 CTS. This is a bit like getting ready to have a baby, minus the extreme physical pain! As such, our posts here have been less frequent. And we're sorry about that. Soon -- as in any day now -- we'll be in a slightly more "normal" state. And there will be many more stories to share. Hang in there with us! More to come shortly. In the meantime, we've seen some interesting stuff online that somewhat relates to the world of vehicle testing:
- A little note on the pricing of the upcoming CTS.
- Another blogger having a run thru our infotainment system.
- A local-boy-makes-good story on one of our team members -- the man mostly responsible for Cadillac interior design.

Okay,
for the past few month I have been trying to tell from all the pictures, however, I cannot see the button. Does the new CTS have an option for Heated/Cooled Front Seats? What about in the back seats?

This is probably the first American car that has me sold even before seeing it in person. The only dilema I have is whether I should wait for the CTS-V or go with the DI CTS. I've always been an impatient person but somehow I'm feeling that good things come to those who wait! ...CTS-V it is!

When does production actually start? I ordered a CTS last night and am curious about how long it will take to make it to the dealer. Is there any way to track it?

Obviously I haven't seen one of these in the flesh yet, but based on the pictures I really feel congratulations are in order to all on the team.
The exterior looks a lot better than the outgoing model which was too non descript and could easily be mistaken for a Toyota. (sorry!) the bland looks I could live with but...
...the interior looks worlds better than the old one. The old interior was, I'm sorry to say, far too cheap looking. I am extremely happy to see the return of wood and it looks like it has been well integrated with more modern metal finishes. The old interior meant that the CTS was a no-no on my shopping list (I preferred to stick with my previous generation STS) and for the same reason the Chrysler 300C was also a no-no.
The new 08 CTS looks fab in the photos both inside and out.
Now the only question is, can I live without my beloved Northstar V8???
And speaking of the engine, one of those articles says the new V6 is 268BHP whereas I was under the impression that the expected figure was 300BHP. That's quite a difference. Does the blogger have it wrong? If not, what happened to cause the drop in power output?
I understand that UK sales of the first generation CTS have been disappointing, will you guys be officially bringing the much better 08 model over to us? (if so please, for your own good, don't make it cost thousands more than it would for me to import one myself).
And please, someone in the marketing department *needs* to hear me on this so I am going to shout:
YOU NEED TO ADVERTISE IF YOU HOPE TO LAUNCH THE BRAND HERE.
COOL ADVERTS ON TV NOT THE ODD BILLBOARD POSTER.
EVERYONE I SPEAK TO IS COMPLETELY UNAWARE OF THE EXISTENCE ON CADILLAC IN THE UK.

Can you get the 6 disc with the nav system? Oh and want two new ideas for future cars???

Answering these quick questions:
Jordan - Yes on heated seats. The front seats can be heated and "ventilated" - that means a fan provides air to the seat, very effective for a hot day. But this is not a "cooled" seat, meaning it is not air conditioned. No heating or ventilation in the back. But we're confident you will want to be sitting in the driver's seat as much as possible!
Scott - Production begins within the next couple of weeks. The dealer can track the order for you pretty easily. Understand that your order is one of many already received. Soon that order will receive a "build date", noting when car is slated to be produced. This is a date they can share with you. The dealer should receive the car a month or so after that "build date," though that can vary a bit based on geography and other factors. Your dealer should have a good feeling for the shipping timing, as obviously they order and receive cars often.

HardRockCamaro (love that name): Yes, the all-new 08 CTS will be sold in the UK. The optional Direct Injection engine is rated at 304 hp. The "regular" 3.6-liter engine is 263 hp (up from the prior 258, which is maybe why the other blogger was mistaken.) In the UK we will also offer a 2.8-liter V6 at 210 hp.
As for your shouts, I'll ensure they are heard.

With the recent articles relating to the first tests of the 2008 CTS in Germany and the car handling like a true german car and the quality being much improved, I'm confused as to where the 2008 CTS will be built: in Germany or in the U.S.?
