Much like we did earlier this summer in Germany, we are finding opportunities to invite some folks to do extensive test drives evaluations with us. Here's a look at some recent reports.

I just had my first chance to sit in an '08 CTS in a local dealers showroom.

I am afraid that someone screwed up badly. Sitting in the passenger seat, when I tried to relax, my head hit the headrest before my shoulders hit the seatback. I could not find a comfortable position. It was a bit better in the drivers seat, but not much better as I drive in a more erect position. I expect that my wife will reject the car when she sits in the passenger seat. She rejected an '02 Lexus for the same reason. Is there any way to remedy this, as other than this I am drooling over the car, but I can't buy it if my wife can't get comfortable.

Still no pricing info on the website? Thought that was going up late in the month. It's certainly late. Any update on when that will happen?

FMVSS 202. Cadillac's hands are tied here. There should be some adjustment there to prevent the head from hitting first when you sit back; but closer headrests are becoming the norm by law.

I'm with Tom. I'd love to be able to build and price the '08 CTS on the website. With '07 production finished, this should be done.

I agree with Tom and Jeff. Why is it that a car that has already began to arrive at dealers still can't be priced online. Toyota would have had this done weeks ago. So much for ending the bureaucratic red tape at GM.

I saw 2 2008 CTS's at Kennedy Cadillac in San Bernardino. As others have stated, pictures do not do this car justice. It is truly beautiful. When you open the door and you see the exterior and interior together, the colors look perfect. I test drove an Acura TL Type S just before test driving the CTS. Same sticker price, but a completely different experience. The CTS has class and refinement the Acura could not touch. It was like comparing my 2004 CTS to my 1978 Honda Civic. The test drive was very impressive. I had gone to, “A Taste of Lexus” a week ago and they had nothing that even come close to this. Very smooth ride, but I was able to feel the road. Handled uneven roads and bumps without drama. I took a turn quick and the car just smoothly took the dip and turn without leaning hard like a boat. It is very fast (3.6 not DI). Seems faster than the 2007 CTS 3.6 that I used this week. Congratulations Cadillac, I know what my next car will be, again.

It's priced. A plain CTS with the reg V6 listed at about 34k at Coulter Cadillac in Phx. The Direct Injection V6 with a moon roof was about 47K. I was a lil shocked at the price myself and still didn't see a Direct Inj V6 with AWD but I'm betting we're talking 50k for that. Not sure but seems a lil expensive to me.

I just ordered a new CTS yesterday. I got the Direct Injection model with the Premium Lux package and the Y43 summer performance package so I could have the FE3 suspension. Since I am in Chicago, I'm having to get winter tires and another set of wheels for them. What would you folks recommend for winter tires (I'm leaning towards Blizzak LM-25 but have also seen Dunlop Winter Sport M3 and Michelin X-Ice in the appropriate size for this car).
I would have liked to be able to get both the 4 wheel drive system with a suspension package that had the FE3 suspension with Ultra-High performance all season tires like the Michelin Pilot Sport A/S. I really wish a combination like that would have been made available directly from Cadillac for those of us who have to survive in winter weather.

I test drove a black cherry non-DI luxury sedan with FE3 and the auto tranny over the weekend. I love this car!! The driving dynamics are amazing!! I am a little disappointed in the interior (this is a $40K vehicle), namely the texture of the dash. It feels like glorified styrofoam. Maybe it's that way for safety (collision) purposes. Aside from that, I am very impressed. I can't wait until the V arrives!!

I have to disagree with Marshall about the seats. I've got a few hundred miles on my 2008 CTS and I think the seats are wonderful. I told my wife about Marshall's comments and she didn't agree either. On my last car, I had to adjust the headrest as far forward as it would go, similar to the CTS headrest position, so I could rest my head against it. Speaking of the seats, the cooled seats are great. Their so cool, I can only leave them set on "high" for a short while because they work so well.

I only have one issue with my new CTS. It's the memory seats. One, the seat exit position is supposed to be programmable. It wouldn't work for me, my dealer, or other people I know who bought a CTS. Two, I have to either press the unlock button on my "keyless entry" fob or a button on the driver's door to recall my memory settings. On my C6 the system knows which fob was used to open the door and sets the positions automatically, without haviing to press a button. Maybe this can be fixed with a software/firmware change?

We picked up my wife's car on Saturday (we ordered it in early June). Thunder Grey, Direct Injection, Performance pack with all-season tires, Luxury Package 2, NAV Sunroof, and AWD. We did not order the max Premium package, as we both think wood trim does NOT belong in a Sport Sedan (it has fake carbon fiber by default.) -- I think the only thing we are really missing is the cool ambient lighting and the rain sense wipers. List price was $48600, and with a great residual, a lease payment of under $600/month.

The seat memory does work off of the fobs...the number of the fob is etched on the silver part of the fob, and is VERY small. Walk up, open the door, and the seats move.

We did have an “issue” with the radio/NAV system: the stations would change, but the display would not update. Like any Microsoft system, a re-boot fixed it before we left the dealer.

Overall, a MUCH better buy than the Audi A6 Quattro we were considering…

Thanks Skip W. I know I can press the button on the "keyless entry" fob to move the seats. But then it's not "keyless." On my Corvette and other luxury cars, the system recognizes which keyless fob was used to unlock the door (#1 or #2) and moves the seats automatically.

SKIP: You mention you have made the memory seats work with the key fob. Do you mean that you were able to get them to move without pushing ANY buttons either on the key fob or on the door memory buttons? I've not been able to get mine to do that and I cant believe it'd be designed so that you'd still have to press buttons on a keyless entry.

Please give us more details on your experience with the memory seats!

Thanks!

Whatever happened to the BMW 5-Series size at less than a 3 series price?. Sounds like Cadillac has gotten very greedy with the price point. What will the V cost- $65K? C'mon Mark LaNeve, lets get real.

Setting the memory seats for easy entry/exit was no problem. I am also disappointed that after entry you have to push 1 or 2 in order to get your personal settings. Sort of defeats the reason for numbered FOBs. Even my Corvette remembers and automatically sets positions.
That being said the car is a gem in every way in my opinion. We have every option except AWD and compared to competitors it's not overpriced($44+purchase)IMO. We turned in a 2005 STS which does not come close to this CTS.

The STS ROCKS. GOT IT THREE DAYS AND GO AND STILL DISCOVERING NEW STUFF IT DOES. I could live in this car! Sorry to invade your CTS space. Couldn't resist. Agree about the styrofoam in the CTS.

Hello people. I have some things to say. One to I. Michaels, the CTS-V will be going for about 60G's but you will be getting ALL the toys plus it will be a Beamer killer, with, 550-BHP and supercharged. It will come with automatic (6 speed with paddles)on the 6L90 tranny. Also you can get it with the 6 speed manual(the Tremec TR6060).By the way top speed is around 180MPH. So the Beamer game is over. Two, Kathy the STS is nice and all but if you had done your homework...... you would have seen pound for pound the CTS would have been the car. Six cylinder or eight. The STS V-6 does not come close to the CTS V-6. The V-8's. The STS is only 325HP. CTS-V 400HP. The only STS that can hang is the V version of the STS. 471HP is nothing to just laugh at but, the CTS-V Mallett version does the STS in. 500HP is nothing to laugh at either. Each car comes fully loaded. Please ladies and gents do your homework first. By the way the V version will be out around late August or early Sept. Bye.
