We don't really like to toot our own horn. Well maybe we do like it. We just try not to do it all the time.
Popular Mechanics is a favorite magazine for some of our folks - we are engineers, after all. This link takes you to their brand-new Automotive Excellence Awards.
Good stuff.

Toot your horn if you like, but how about answering the questions!

Marshall -
Thanks for the reminder. Looking back, we initially and accidentally bypassed your question. Sorry about that.
Here's the answers - Adaptive Cruise is very nice (we offer it on the larger STS and DTS.) It has been thought about for CTS - though it is very premium and we're frankly not sure how receptive sport sedan buyers are to it, versus "prestige" sedan buyers. That's why it's not offered on CTS. But we can reconsider that if we detect a lot more interest.
On the backup camera, stay tuned.
On the sunshade, you raise a good point and a tricky little detail. One person's idea of "too bright" can be not bright enough for others. Tough to strike the right balance, honestly. With the ultra-view roof proving very popular, your question is one we continue to ask ourselves!

Wow, I still found it amazing that you folks actually read the comments. That's what I call service. If I asked Lexus a genuine question, they'd send me a twinkie or something like that. Don't get me wrong, a twinkie would entertain me. Atleast until I finish it (in all of 2 seconds). But in the end it is somewhat unsatisfying.
Anyways, I have a question of my own: I see you implemented a docking-thing for the Apple iPod, but what about the Microsoft Zune? Can it or will it ever be able to support that? Zune is becoming a major player (pun totally intended there) with their newer models. And me owning one, I'd like to see this.
Thanks!

Regarding the sunshade, why not offer it in several levels of opacity, you offer other options in different levels, why not the sunshade and let the buyer choose what he/she needs.

Regarding Adaptive Cruise Control. The CTS is a sport sedan, but isn't it also a prestige (Cadillac) sedan for many of us? As to the number of buyers, would they be less than the number for manual transmissions? The engineering has already been done, please add it. Some of us need or want a smaller car but with all the bells and whistles. I could go on but I think I've made my point.

These questions regarding the sun shade for the sun roof reminded me of something. Why are there no rear seat sunshades(side and rear windows) in any Cadillac's?? I have a wife and baby and own the 2004 CTS-V and CANNOT stand the suction cup shades whe insists on using in the back of the V!! Not to mention the one back door stole one of the suction cups on me when I unwittingly roled down a rear window once. As a luxury brand, it is features like these rear sunshades that I expect as options above and beyond what is available on other GM brands. The adaptive cruise is available on cars in these price categories from the competition also. Anyhow, I think rear sunshades and probably other things I am not thinking of right now NEED to be included in whatever cars replace the DTS/STS at the very least, but should be an option on even the CTS as it has pretty decent room for mom and baby in the back seat and that is probably the age of buyers the CTS is trying to cater towards.

Freddy - Thanks for the kind words. Yes, Zune does integrate with the car's infotainment system.
Marshall - Thanks for your input. We do have some features (pop-up nav screen, electronics) not found on larger prestige cars. But your point is well taken, nonetheless.

I do not see why people complain so much about GM and the small little functions that each model needs to have. Production cars are not made for INDIVIDUAL people they are targeted to a wide range of consumers. Sorry if each model does not fit your specific needs

GMguy,
You're right, no vehicle can satisfy everyone. However, if a brand sought to improve its reputation, and its competitions' vehicles have what the brand had and/or more, this brand better ought to be able to compensate for what it's vehicle(s) lack.

OK, I have done my research on the 08 CTS and decided to buy one. The problem is: They are not available. "Sold Out" "We have a waiting list" etc. Whats going on at GM?? Can't keep up with the imports, losing money and all that and you can't find one of their autos? Something ain't right.

jess, this is for several reasons. first, a lot of times production begins slowly to ensure that the manufacturing process is happening correctly. once the company is satisfied that all the kinks of the operation have been worked out, production speed increases. second, many companies like to limit the availability of their hot new cars. when demand outpaces production, it creates some excitement around the model

Alex,
While your reasoning holds merrit, you are applying it to the wrong kind of cars. GM should apply that logic to the CTS-V, but not the base CTS. ON the very day of official release, every Cadillac dealer in the country should have had at least 5 in stock. By now, they should be fully stocked with every option combination and both manuals and automatics.
The day Lexus released the all new for 2004 IS250, every Lexus dealer had them in stock, ready to buy, in all colors and option combinations.

Jess,
I think Joe D. and Alex are both partially correct. I think the problem with the new CTS is that there was just more interest than anticipated in some areas. Auto companies can only build so many cars for a launch and have to guess which markets are going to need the most. I think the CTS probably generated a lot more interest in some markets than Cadillac ever anticipated. Soon they should have things figured out and cars should be available everywhere.

I'd just like to add that you guys have done your homework well.
I just read the MotorTrend article about how the CTS is COTY (congratulations!!), and one of the things that they loved about it was the lack of some stupid entertainment system like the iDrive. All MT does is complain about it, but BMW never seems to even take note that no one likes it.
Simply put, this is definitely the nicest car to date (of a reasonable price), and you guys did an AMAZING job that I still can't get over. I wish I could thank you all in person for making one of my dreams come true. "News flash to automakers in Japan and Germany: The eagle has landed. Again."

Let's blow on that horn a little longer... Congratulations on the CTS being named MT Car of the Year!!

love my car, at the rate I'm going I'll put on 50k miles - and I work at home!!! Two things - first, if it had an option for a better(deeper/sport) bucket seat I would have payed for it - the car handles way too well to have no side support. second, I know MS and MTP is a pain to work with but if you guys could add native Zune support so it worked using the USB connector that would be awesome. I'm sure the pre-amp and A/D converter in the sound system is better than the one in the Zune.
