Still Racing!

One of the really nice things about CTS-V is that it has benefitted from a really good road racing program in recent years. Cadillac won two of the last three Manufacturer's Championships in the SPEED World Challenge GT series. This is a terrific production-based road racing series operated by the SCCA, and it's been a very good experience for Cadillac and helped influence and improve our "street" car quite a bit. The production CTS-V is of course on a one-year hiatus now as we prepare the all-new 2009 CTS-V that we're working on now. Naturally, it was tempting for some to assume that this might mean the CTS-V would depart from racing. That is absolutely not the case - the CTS-V is back in SPEED World Challenge for 2008 under the management of the brand new Team Remington Cadillac.

The new season starts Friday at Sebring. Andy Pilgrim (series champion in the Cadillac in 2005) and Michael McCann are the drivers. And we're pulling for them! OK, I'll admit I'm a sports car racing nut. But I suspect some of you are, too. So here's my commercial: Go to www.worldchallenge.com for more details on the 10-race series carried on SPEED TV. Set your TiVo . . . these races make for especially good TV viewing as they are 45 minutes long, normally with all sorts of action, lots of passing and some tremendous cars and drivers (Porsche, Cadillac, Corvette, Viper, etc.)

Chris,
Since you are a trained driver, do you ever get a chace to drive the race car to tune up the suspension?

Thus, will you have the LS9 engine from ZR1 hidden under the hood with over 620 HP if it’s permitted under the 2.7.2.2: Grand Touring (GT) rules “. . . approximate BHP range in this class is approximately 425-525 . . .” & then have a LS9 (ZR1) engine option for extreme CTS-V coupe purchase ;-)

I just wanted to say that I love what GM is doing with its blogging/social media efforts. I stumbled upon this blog from the Fast Lane blog, which is a great initiative for GM. The one complaint I have about this Cadillac blog is the black text on dark grey background makes it pretty hard to read. If you could fix this, I think readers would greatly appreciate it.

Thanks, AJ and Jason for your various ideas!
The answer for you,VRocket, is that for the most part the tuning of the race car is done with the actual guys who drive on race day (Andy Pilgrim, Michael McCann.) That way they can dial it in for their own styles, and the tracks. They in fact have unique set-ups in place for each venue in which they compete.

Question: Why not making the CTS-V available with all-wheel-drive? With 550+ hp I think this is a must have!
I’m the owner of a 2008 CTS4 and will never ever drive a car without AWD! It adds plenty of security on ALL roads at ALL weather conditions. Build a CTS-V4 and I’m buying it immediately…

A small correction for Speed GT fans, the SCCA Speed GT website URL is: www.world-challenge.com
