Quick, what production sedan ran the fastest ever documented time at the Nurburgring’s Nordschleife?
BMW M5? Mercedes-Benz E63?
How about the Cadillac CTS-V?
You may remember that seasoned hot shoe and recently retired John Heinricy, formerly Director of GM High Performance Vehicle Operations, absolutely scorched a 7:52.93 last year at the Nurburgring, which put the Cadillac CTS-V and Heinricy in the hyper-exclusive sub-8 minute club for production vehicles and into a category of one as the only production sedan to make the club.
Now, this very same record-setter will go to the highest bidder at Barrett-Jackson in Palm Beach this weekend. Not only could you buy a “sleeper” Q-ship that can smoke Ferraris and Porsches around a race track, but you could own the actual car that set the production sedan record at the ‘Ring.
I wonder if John is allowed to bid. Sure would beat the wristwatch or clock some guys get when they retire.

Too late to bid but I got to drive it at Monticello!! $60,000 is a fairly small premium for a piece of Cadillac history! Scot S.
Dude, that would a crazy sweet sleeper . . . the CTS in general is fairly subdued/understated, most people won’t notice the badging or the airdams and whatnot, then it blows by you on I-70 going 170? And think of maintenance . . . ever try servicing a 550 Maranello? $$$$$$$$$. Porsche performance without exotic hassle. Schwing!
